Fresh & Easy Receives Multiple Wine Awards

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market wines have received 63 awards in less than six months, including a Best in Show, 90 Parker Points and Platinum Medals.

Most award winning wines are priced under $10, including two that retail for between $1.99 and $2.99, depending upon the state.

"We believe our customers should not have to compromise on quality simply because they don't want to spend a lot on wine. We are proud to offer extremely high-caliber, award-winning wines at incredible prices," said Simon Uwins, Chief Marketing Officer for Fresh & Easy, Fresh & Easy, operator of 64 grocery markets in Southern California, Nevada and Arizona.

Fresh & Easy, a U.S. subsidiary of U.K.-based Tesco Plc, works directly with a Master of Wine to develop most of the company's 65 specially selected wines. Masters of Wine are highly regarded throughout the industry as extensively trained wine experts, and there are only 251 in the world, the company said in a statement.

At Fresh & Easy, wines are shelved according to grape varietals instead of region, and all Fresh & Easy wines contain labels that give their customers information regarding the source of the grapes, food pairing ideas, wine style and storage details.

Notable Fresh & Easy wine awards at the 2008 San Francisco International Wine Competition include; Big Kahuna Cabernet Shiraz, bronze medal; Boro Hills Sauvignon Blanc, silver medal; and Vista Point Chardonnay, bronze medal.

At the 2008 San Francisco Wine Chronicle Competition the company's Hilltown Vineyards Merlot won a bronze medal, and at the 2008 Jerry Mead's New World International Wine Competition, Hilltown Vineyards Pinot Noir took gold.
