Long John Silver’s Trims Calories and Fat
Long known for its fried fish and chips, Long John Silver’s chain rolled out new lower-fat, lower-calorie seafood and side dishes at all of its 1,100 quick-service restaurants worldwide.
Entrees on the Freshside Grille menu have less than 10 grams of fat and zero trans fats, according to a report in Business First of Louisville. Calories for the entrees range from 110 to 150 calories.
Menu items include shrimp scampi in garlic butter, grilled tilapia in a garlic and herb sauce and grilled Pacific salmon in a red bell pepper, garlic and olive oil sauce.
Sides include a vegetable medley with green beans, orange carrots and yellow carrots; seasoned long-grain rice with garlic and vegetable seasonings and corn on the cob, according to the report.
Long John Silver’s is owned by Louisville-based Yum Brands Inc., which also owns Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Taco Bell and A&W Restaurants.
